46. The HSCA did not refute the Warren Commission.

Donald Trump’s good friend, and fellow compulsive liar, Roger Stone, once told me on Twitter that the HSCA completely refuted the Warren Commission. This is a common claim of conspiracy theorists, but like most of their claim, it doesn’t hold water.

In reality, the HSCA came to the same basic conclusions on all the substantive points of President Kennedy’s assassination. Lee Harvey Oswald fired three shots at President John F. Kennedy, one of which missed. The two rifle shots that hit President Kennedy were fired from behind; from the sixth floor window of the southeast corner of the Texas School Book Depository Building.

On the subjects that conspiracy theorists most like to emphasize and disagree with – “back and to the last,” and the so-called “magic bullet” – the Warren Report and the HSCA Report agree.

  1. Conspiracy theorists often point to the facial injury sustained by James Tague as clear evidence of a fourth shot. However, Tague was standing at the underpass and JKK’s limo was at that point speeding away from Dealy Plaza. It’s just as likely that a piece of road grit was sent flying towards the sidewalk where Taugue was standing and was deflected upwards to a hit Tegur’s cheek. A bullet would have done far more damage to Tague’s face. The incident did however provide Teague with fame and a career !

A direct hit by a bullet would have done far more damage to Tague’s face. The incident did however provide Teague with fame and a career !
